Has anyone used one of these successfully or not?

My two litter trays are in my bathroom and I'm getting a bit fed up of just getting in the bath for a soak only for one of the cats to go for a poo!

Wanted to know if it was messy with litter being kicked everywhere in the initial stages of the cats learning to use the toilet. I've three cats all of about 3 years old who have only ever used a little tray. They even come in from outside to use it!

To me it just seems wrong for a cat to use a human toilet BUT I would love to have a day go by without me having to scoop out dusty cat st and piss from the litter tray.

We used the Litter Kwitter for our two Bengal boys and they took to it very quickly. From beginning to end it was about a month. One boy was faster than the other, so unfortunately you have to go at the slowest participants pace but it is worth it in the end.

We had a couple of moments (falling in to the toilet a few times) litter can get down the loo which is annoying, but it is definitely worth it, now all I have to do is teach them to flush.

As yours are 3 years old I think they should be fine but really worth it to take the stages slow and steady. Litter Kwitter also have a useful forum where any trouble you experience has probably been posted before.

Heres a video of one of our boys peeing:

good luck,

Do you have a dedicated toilet for them to use?

I have 2, one off the kitchen & one in the bathroom. I keep the kitchen locked (a, so they doen't go on the worksurfaces and b, there is no heating in it so this weather freezes the whole house!) and don't really want them to be using the 'only' loo when I have guests over...

We have two bathrooms and initially trained them in the one which is where the video is taken. However they also use our ensuite toilet (having never taught them on that one). Its pretty random which one they choose to use.

We warn guests that they might have to share the loo, one time we were explaining this to guests who didn’t believe us and literally perfectly on cue you could hear faint *tinkling* sound as one of the boys went to the toilet, the look on their faces was brilliant.

I guess if there was an issue we would just leave the seat down and they could use our loo.

Hmmmm scratchchin

I guess my problem is that I only really have one toilet; unless I leave the Kitchen open and freeze!

I suppose it resolves the lid up/down debaet too! biggrin

Thank you thumbup

I have two toilets in the house so it's not really an issue if one is out of action for a while for the cats.

I may wait til Spring, to give you an idea of how cold my Kitchen gets... the toilet (in a small room off it) froze last Christmas (as did the Washing Machine!) and cracked the waste pipe!

I'm with you on the cold bathroom front, don't worry.

When I bought the house the windows were so rotten and draughty that when my Dad went to point and say 'is this window staying and being replaced', his fingertip touched the pane of glass, which promptly caused the whole window to fall out and crash on the floor outside. I'm glad I was witness to it otherwise I'd not believe that a window could have been that rotten.

I so wish I'd put underfloor heating in there when I renovated the room, it is so cold underfoot, but the Radiator (which only works when the hot water is on) and the fan heater keep it just about bearable unless it is in minus figures outside.
