oil gauge reading zero
Discussion
I've done a search and read the other posts but nothing seems to match exactly.
Had the car out at the weekend and oil pressure needle didn't move for a couple of minutes and then picked up to the usual reading.
Was out again last night, but this time the needle didn't move at all.
Oil level is fine and no warning lights are on.
Is there a way of checking the pressure? Any thoughts? I was planning on using the car to go away for the weekend, but I don't think its such a good idea until I get it checked out.

Assuming the engine is still running my guess is it is just the gauge playing up, most likely because of a broken wire at the sender. On the other hand it could be you really don't have any oil pressure. If it was me I'd assume the worst until proven otherwise, because you could be within a few seconds of lunching your engine.
Now don't take this as gospel, but if the oil warning light goes out on the dash within a second or so of starting the engine then the oil pressure is likely to be alright and a gauge issue could be the cause. The gauge was only really put in to give it the sports car feel but doesn't really add anything other than one more thing to worry about
If the oil light doesn't go out then don't drive it.
If the oil light doesn't go out then don't drive it.I had the same problem on my Chimaera, the pressure dropped to zero on the gauge intermittently. Took it to Fernhurst TVR, and they replaced the gauge sender unit under warranty (very quick to do). Apparently, if the dash light comes on, it really has got no pressure. It's been fine ever since.
