Can I kill chickens on my land?
Discussion
Morning all
Some ar*seholes down the road have the allotment next to ours, and due to inadequate fencing, their chickens frequently engage in allotment invasions, scratching about and digging things up, and generally upsetting my dear old Mum.
When it's happened before, they've been fairly unpleasant about it, and clearly haven't taken sufficient precautions to prevent it happening again.
Legally, can I get my air rifle our and shoot them --whilst on our laaarnd, of course-- and then throw their stinking carcasses back over the fence?

The neighbours at a house I used to live in kept chickens. One was something of an escape artist. We found it in the house more than once, after it had wandered in while we were carrying things in from the car. Worst situation was when it jumped into the car while I was cleaning the interior - thinking that if I made a grab for it it was probably going to crap all over the back seats and carpets and thus trying to shoo the bugger out without startling it.

Catch, wring neck, roast, repeat.
NB - I'm refering to the chickens, not the neighbours.

Just disappear them on a saturday, ready for a sunday roast.
If the bellends say anything, mention that you've seen foxes around and it might be worth them looking at some fox proof fencing.
Job fking jobbed.
Beware of the animal cruelty act, it could be used against you.
Plus this shamelessly pasted from another forum
Your neighbour is under a duty to keep his chickens on his own land.
However, if you were to shoot them it could be considered criminal damage.
Legally, your options are getting the local council involved, checking to see if there are any covenants in your/neighbour's deeds prohibiting the keeping of livestock and, if so, having the covenant enforced or taking out an injunction.
All of which are a hassle.
Can you do anything to the fence to deter the chickens? Patch up holes, fit netting etc? Chickens have a good hop on them, but most wouldn't get over a 2M fence

Yes, but if they then do get fox proof fencing, that's future Sunday roasts lost!
If they are chickens kept for egg production, they will make a pretty crap sunday roast. Plus as you can buy a chicen for £3 from a supermarket it really isnt worth the hassle of plucking and eviscerating etc.ps. Its is criminal damage to kill one that belongs to someone else
Chickens are legally livestock so they are treespassing, which is a civil offence and if you can prove damages you may have recourse (will cost you loads in legal fees)
Call the police, they should sort it out:
