Just bought my Sons first RC car
Discussion
Cool stuff. Myself, my son and Dern on here are racing ours over Christmas. Should be a laugh. Mine is untried since build so far ( not had time to) and my sons ( he is 8) is pretty well dialed in for him. Should be a laugh. Have already been eyeing up alloy shocks and carbon bits.........and my mate has just moved to Crowthorne, Berks only 2 mins from a big model RC shop LOL........and we are visiting him next Tuesday.....
Quick question, it says about glueing tyres to the rims. What should I use for this?

A few spots of super glue should do it.Quick question, it says about glueing tyres to the rims. What should I use for this?
All of the budget 2wd's look pretty similar to the RC10, some of them are actuay RC10's al be it the B2/B3 variants.
Here's some body off shots of the car the OP posted from the website http://www.ecxrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=...

How did it go OP was your son pleased?

Wow! That looks familiar. I bought my two sons (7 and 11) an RC car each from Model Zone for xmas. What a mistake that was as both managed to fall apart or break on Xmas day
which caused tears in my young one. So a trip back to model zone resulted in me returning the cars and getting my money back. Ok they were not expensive at £50 each but I did expect something that would last more than 5 mins.
Anyway after a quick internet search we made a quick trip down to a very neat model shop near Goodwood to get two new cars. I did not want to spend much more than £100 pounds as these were their first decent cars and these are what we came away with:
The Eiectrix RC which appears to be the same as the Op's but with a different body. 2WD rear engined:

And the Vantage Carnage. 4wd mid engined;'

Both look like good cars with the Vantage having the edge on quality of construction (it was £20 more expensive than the other car)
Batteries are currently on charge ready for the first test runs tomorrow

I cant wait... sorry they cant wait....LOL

We all went playing with our buggies. My sons survived unscathed, although he was driving it like a loon. He had it going flat out towards him, hit his feet and threw him in the air. He landed on his chest, still holding the controller and myself and Dern were worried he had hurt himself, but he was laughing out loud.........
My son and I had a coming together head on and mine came off worse and smashed the front shock off, so upgrades have started and arrived today for a play in the morning. Derns went wrong on the day before we went out involving speed and a kiddies roundabout, which broke the shock tower off the front. It lasted well with jb weld on the day of our excursion, about 30 mins. Great toys to play with, but suspect will cost money long term to replace broken bits.
Fitted my alloy shocks X4 on my car today. Wasnt sure what oil to use, so guessed at 700 viscosity. Got the shocks and oil off racing punk on ebay, as local shops had nothing. Seems fine on the front, but rears seem slow to rebound. might put a lighter oil in the rears.
Anyone recommend a car stand for working on the cars, as the table seems not to like them when you are changing shocks etc.
Roll on playtime New Years Day !!!
