Following on from my day from hell yesterday, this bird or whatever monstrosity it was dropped this dollop of yellow crap on my bonnet. I called Meguiars technical people this morning, extremely helpful. Anyway, depending on time of year and diet it is possible for crap to eat into your clearcoat within 30 seconds!! So I have one more technique to try (with one of the many products I have in stock Rich), failing which it is off to the paintshop to have it ground out and repolished. Grrhh.

Steve at Meguiars was awesomely helpful, to the extent that whilst on the phone he looked up a USA website for me to get a price and save me 90 USD on a product that Meguiars sell!!

Last year someone threw some eggs at my 96` Procharger vette. It was outside vetteheadracers house at the time in the lovely respectful town of Basingstoke not! Guess it was typical english persons jealousy.
Anyway it has eaten into the paintwork and is right by the passenger`s door where it is really noticeable.

30 seconds is barely enough time to whip round to your place and rummage through your stock of Meguiars for the relevent potion to protect my paintwork. However if this vulture deposits only yellow poo then I've made the correct colour choice as it won't show on my car.

It's supposed to be lucky .. in which case I should have done the lettery yesterday.

Walking along the high street, a lump of seagull guano exploded about an inch in front of me. However, I got some fallout on my shoulder. Later, the Camaro was on the receiving end of a mass duck dump with blobs of turd on boot, roof, bonnet, windows and doors. I grabbed some toilet tissue but it was too late, the birds were miles away....

I had a cowpat size one hit the screen of my daily driver the other week. Didn't see the perpetrator but I suspect it may have been proof that farmyard animals do, in fact, fly. No wonder they reckon air traffic controllers have a hard time of it...

Just as a suggestion, does regularly waxing help to mitigate the consequences of a 'bird strike?'

Yes and no. depends on bird, diet and love making habits. There is no defence against a randy bird following a curry. Waxing provides protection against contaminents - indeed I had just redone mine a week previously. But there is no guarantee. If you have a factory warranty on this check the small print, there will be an override on bird droppings - there is just no protection if the lime content is strong enough.

Thing yourselves lucky.

In the USA in certain states at certain times of the year there are insects which if you hit them are acidic and unless you wipe them off the car within about 20 minutes they eat into the paintwork causing the paint to bubble up!

Think yourselves even luckier with this one:

Whilst staying in LA (my sister lives there) we fancied a trip to Disney staying overnight and my brother in law offered us his car (it was only a Le Baron convertible but was his pride and joy). He warned us that there was crop spraying in the Disney area to prevent some form of insect infestation and the spray was detrimental to paintwork on cars. He asked if we could wash his car if it was sprayed on.

Well, sure enough, at about 4.00am we were awoken by the sound of a fleet of spraying helicopters (just like a scene from a Vietnam war film) but I couldn't be bothered to get up to inspect his car. Big mistake as leaving it for 4 hours enabled the spray to really do its work. I was frantically washing it with a face flannel and ice bucket to no avail. The car was covered in tiny dull spots.

He wasn't best pleased ........ oops

Same when you get a pensioner stuck to the paintwork, you have to wipe them off straight away or they start hitting the car with a stick trying to get you to slow down.
