Avoid potholes, don't park under trees with the hood down, keep kids with sticky fingers at least 50 yards away, don't do motorways, don't do supermarkets, don't get too close behind diesel vans, watch the weather forecast before venturing more than 1 mile from home, don't get sucked into road duels with Lax Power muppets (you have nothing to prove), spend all Sunday morning cleaning her and the rest of the week enjoying the turning heads and admiring glances she will get.

Welcome to the club.

As chassis condition is everything with S's, may I suggest an annual (before winter sets in) detailed inspection of the chassis. If necessary remove any flaking plastic coating/paint, re-paint and a good dose of Waxoyl, or similar. May even be worth doing this before and after the winter... if your planning to drive it year round.

Edited to say: Oh, and congratulations on buying an S. Prepare for the grin!

Nice one; my first was an S3.

To understand your steed better, I suggest you get the 'S Handbook' by Steve Heath www.tvrbooks.co.uk

Excellent bedtime reading.

ello ello ello, Mike . Just checked your profile to see what your driving if not a TVR. The profile pic suggests the years have been kind to you !

Met one of your colleagues from the BIB at a TVRCC meet recently. He had a v nice Griff. Good to see he gave it a right good blat en route to the venue (all at the legal speed limits, of course !!!).

Lose one of the tin tops, get a Tiv - you know you want to.

They say you can tell when your getting old when policemen look young !

Kevin.
You face the dilemma that I often ponder over myself.
I thinks I will go and wash the car ,clean the seats Hoover the carpets, I go out into the garage and start her up and ......... Oh sod it just a quick drive round the block
Hence my pride and joy will never be as nice as I would like it.
The answer to your question is simple..
Two TVR`s one to look at ,one to drive.

If only life were that simple.

Trust me soton, if I could I would have one now.
Still not sure over an S or a wedge. I like them both.
Was the fellow bib called Mike with a cooper green Griff, J reg?
If so I have driven it on many occasions, and only became interested in TVR's as he heard me ranting about them. Something wrong there really!
Would love to get rid of a tin top, but the alfa will have to stay as the family car (must have a bit of fun) and I wouldn't even get half an S for the BMW which is a shame as the beemer is a nice old barge.

My profile, that'll be my daughter, with one of my revision toys for my promotion exam..

I am sodding desperate to get a TVR without a roof, but it would have to work for a living, and do 30 miles on the motorway 6 out of 10 days.
I would even look forward to sticking a wooly hat on in december to drive it.
Ah well, maybe someone will knock my teeth out and the tooth fairy will pay.
Always up for a meeting though.
(as long as a bavarian shed, or italian tin is allowed )

PS, yours looks a corker.

The I met is not the one you mentioned - the Griff I was desperately hanging on to (it was an experience with the hood right down, believe me !) is a tad more local to me than you. He posts on PH but I thought one of his posts could land him in trouble with his bosses so best not name and shame him here.

With regards to the miles, the consensus is that TVRs love to be driven but I agree that more harm than good could be done by using the S throughout the winter on gritted and salted roads. In that respect, I guess it's ideal to have the choice whether to take the S or not, weather dependent and all. I get withdrawal symptoms after 2 days not driving her, lord knows what I'll be like over the winter months !

Don't know if getting your teeth knocked out is a good idea, got any rich aunts ??
