remind me never to take a (male) newb out on a trackday, after his right foot passenger braking, buggered a contact in the ECU connector, which in turn buggered up a weeks worth of driving, and almost a day at Snetterton today.

Sorry for the lady cerb owner who was in the #2 seat when the engine cut out, @ the TVRCC dat at Coombe last week.......it ruined what was going to be a bl00dy good session.

Be warned Griff owners about passenger's that brake..and break!!

A very interesting observation.

On thinking about it I am amazed that this is not a very common problem for Griff owners

Maybe it implies that we are all 'Billy no Mates' or like dwarves?

mate, your ECU and all the electrics should be on top of the battery out of harms way, try moving them if you can

My ECU cant be reached as its on top of the battey and tucked further back then the back edge of the battery.

Perhaps stuff it further back or stick a bit of foam between the board and ECU connection.
Make sure the ECU is taped inside a bag first though in case the foam collects water.

I remember when I was a passenger in my Griff with Don Palmer at the wheel, throwing it all around Bruntingthorpe's runway

We weren't going in a straight line that often and I spent most of the time hugging the centre console due to the lack of lateral support on the rubbish griff seats! Didn't do anything to the ECU mind you!

Was bloody good fun I have to say, even if I did need a new set of tyres afterwards!

This is true but the ECU plug is part of the same wiring then hangs about under the dash looking untidy in mine. So I can see how you could damage it by kicking that bit of carpet that falls out every time you hit the gas!

i moved my ecu above the glove box a bit fiddley but saves all sorts of problems

I moved mine to Norfolk, it's made such a difference

I'm working on a plate or something to sit infront of the battery box to protect the loom etc. Oh and to stop that bit of bloody carpet falling over all the time.


I'm of to Stavros's Taverna in Cambridge now, to see if the Greek woman comparison is correct!!!

one thought though.....would 4 amp cables get stuck between your teeth too?

Should I wear protection before going in for a fiddle?

A piece of ply with two little clips screwed on the back that slip over the top lip of the battery box is good.
