Is this going to be fixed so that it works. I find it either very slow or flakey.

It is, for me, one aspec that now needs looking at

Until it is mended, it's worth using google.
Type in site:PistonHeads< topic you want to find>

But does it narrow it down to vehicle type. IE I want to seach for tyres in the Land Rover forum

It's not perfect searching PistonHeads landrover tyres throws up http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site:+pistonheads...
