Is there any way you can insure jewellery separately to home insurance? A colleague has a single item of significant value which she'd like to insure. However she lives with her in-laws and they dont want to pay the additional premium to upgrade the contents cover to include it.

We've just had a quick Google and cant find much other than contents insurance that includes jewellery cover.

So where can she go to insure a single item? Primarily against loss/theft.

So why doesn't she pay the extra premium to cover the item.

Because her "helpful" parents say they dont want the hassle!

i suppose she could take out a contents policy for all her items and specify the item. Depending on the value of the item a "student possessions" policy from someone like Endsleigh may do the job.

But really she needs to tell the in-laws to sort it out, no excuse for saying no that I can think of.

TH March are very good - 01822 855555 (www.thmarch.co.uk) recommended by the jeweller who made our rings.
