Thanks Ian, glad to have been of assistance. It was a pleasure to see you both this morning.

Zeb, £60 and 3 points for attempting to break the speed of sound on the M55 in a Range Rover, filmed in HD by 2 officers in their Volvo estate car with blue flashing lights on the roof is not a penalty I would advise anyone to challenge, let alone a Yorkshireman who doesn't like throwing good money after bad!!

So what exactly is the point of having a 12 point totup rule FFS????

If you got 12 points - you should be banned - end of!

Just MHO

My understanding is that you pay the fine and still keep 12 points on your license for the 3 years so do it again and its gone!

So essentially that makes it a 15 point rule..that doesn't sound right to me...isn't it something to do with extenuating circumstances!?

I think so, but what I was trying to point out is that I don't think you get rid of the points, you just escape the ban.

emmm....... I don't know the details but, generally, my hackles rise when I hear stuff like this. Pay enough money to a clever enough lawyer, pull on the Magistrates heart strings and one rule for one and another for everyone else. As I say I don't know the details (and frankly don't want to) but I'm not sure I would be advertising this 'achievement' quite so enthusiastically.

XFtdr (very proud to say no points on license, no accidents and owner of 4 Porsches over 15 years).

The same rules apply to everybody. The important bit is simply to apply them correctly to the facts.

Rob, 3 points, no accidents, 3 Porsches, over 23 years!

I'd wager by a massively out of proportion amount compared with any imaginary increase in the likelihood of having an accident.

Pigs in the trough mate. Sympathies.

Yes, the irony is not lost on me!

In the circumstances, it was quite a good result all things considered...

So without trying to start a row just interested, what do you do with your car exactly, do you have fun in it or do you just drive it like any normal non performance car?
