thoughts on this cerb?

sorry dont know how to do a link but its the one with phil phenedos, have dealt with him before but just wondering what you guys think of the cerb he has? looks very nice and keenly priced.

That comment about it being a Cat D but no knowledge as to the damage/chassis history would have me questioning it slightly...

Speaking from experience of owning a Cat D Cerb and having owned a Cat D chimaera Go look and most of all drive it. Being cat D it will most likely have only been light fiber glass damage but still go over it wel.l I have seen TVR's that should be Cat B with rotten chassis that would be death traps in a crash as they turn to dust.

You could have a great car for little money. And i think this chap know's his Tvr's as from what i have read on here so I don't think he would buy crap

If you plan on keeping it it looks like a deal.

yea have bought from him before no probs but have owned 2 tivs before including a sp6 but find a cerb a bit daunting, dont know why?? but have always loved em!

I had a cat D 400se - it was very nice and cheap to buy and was perfect. it never went wrong. I also know Phil well - he is a decent bloke. Its worth having a proper look at it.

it was for sale on here and on ebay about 2 months ago, the guy would have taken £8000 for it

Phil Phedonos has a great reputation and has obviously picked this up cheap from the eBay seller, fixed up a few bits and bobs and is looking to flog it on at a profit (which is fine, as it's what traders do)
I wouldn't be put off by a cat D in any way shape or form. It's pretty common for TVRs to end up cat D as most insurers won't repair a fibreglass bodied car, so they just get written off and end up back in the market repaired by someone else.
I personally was interested in this car when the add came up, but it's not right for me at this mo as I'm too in love with my Chimaera.
I do find it weird how the add is written in the words of the owner and not in the descriptive of a trader though.
The only word of warning I'd heed on that car is that there's lots of talk of bodywork and chassis repair, but no mention of any engine / transmission attention and this is where the expensive bills stem from in my experience

cat d doesnt bother me too much but dont know huge amount about cerbs apart from what i have picked up on here. wonder how running costs are compared to a sp6? must have been lucky with mine because apart from a clutch it never really went wrong. do they need careful warming up like a sp6 or just use common sense?

Just a quick thought, if someone owning this car thought it good enough to invest in Ohlins then it must be worth a drive to see it.
