FIFA have banned the Football League clubs from using the emergency loan as it breaches FIFA's transfer window rules. This will come into effect from the 2014/2015 season.

I've always found it a strange idea being able to loan players outside the 2 official transfer windows. Ok, if you suddenly lose all your central defenders being able to bring somebody in on an emergency loan as cover seems ok, but when you are bringing in 3 or 4 loan players that's taking the p**s.

I would prefer it back as how it used to be, no window, but you couldn't sign players after March (or whenever the cut off date was).

FIFA have said that they will look at the transfer window rules if there is enough support from around the world.

I think it could well cause problems, especially for smaller clubs who can't support a Man City style 50 man squad of internationals.

The biggest issue is if you have a run of bad luck with goal-keepers. It's very easy to run out of those if a couple take a boot to the head / collide with the post etc.

(As an example, look at Les Sealey in the 1991 Cup Winners Cup Final - playing with a very heavily bandaged leg)

FIFA are a bunch of wkers (although in fairness they have agreed to review the current transfer window system).

Those hit hardest by this ruling will be the smaller clubs in the football league who are working with bare bones squads.

I mean, when you think about it what harm is it doing?

Player A is a young right-back at a Premier League club. The club go out of both domestic cup competitions, and his manager knows he won't stand much of a chance getting in the side for league games. Team B are in League 1, and have a defensive crisis due to injuries in their squad of 16 players. Player A joins Team B on loan for a few months. Team B get a promising youngster as cover and Player A gains invaluable experience before returning to his club.

Where's the harm in that?

It's emergency loans banned, not regular loans. Anyway, the transfer window is probably the reason we have inflated prices for players. I'd rather get rid of that limit, to be honest.

Interesting how every time a change is mentioned, you are guaranteed to get someone say "not all clubs are like..... [insert latest rich clubname]" or "it's the small club that suffers". Rules will never benefit everyone, it is unfair and there will always be clubs that are bigger, more successful, leading to more power and a bigger bite of the cherry, that's football and is unlikely to change. Regardless of where they got their money,Man city have raised the bar, the rest can either cry about it or rise to the challenge.

Sorry, off topic.
