Hi - I'm afraid I need to add my name to those that are glad to see the old classifieds back. I know you are closing all the threads - I understand this when people are rude, but hopefully I will keep this constructive.
As an iPad user i just found that the new site just wasn't usable. Please consider this important - I wouldn't say people who are saying it's unusable on an iPad are change resistant Luddites - surely they have a valid point?
In terms of finding the car you want, it was surprisingly easy to find what you wanted in the old site - most importantly much easier than with the new site, hence I'm not sure all the new searching is worth the downsides? The old sites speed and simplicity is probably its best feature.
I'm not anti the new either - whilst I found auto trader harder to use when it changed a few years back, I find the latest iPad auto trader app is absolutely amazing - it's best attributes (IMO) are 1. Speed = lightning fast 2. very simple but focused searching, plus it has nice big quick pictures. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking these kind of basic issues are far more important than an animated rolling milometer showing how many cars have shown up in the search (again don't want to be negative, but if stuff like the milometer etc goes it'll speed up - win!)
Hope you can sort something great as PH is a good place to look for cars and advertise.

Can you elaborate on the issues you were having with the iPad? I tested this a few months back and didn't have any issues using the site on my iPad 2.I'll be honest I found it so frustrating I gave up quickly - but as an example you can't scroll easily in drop down lists - you can use the '2 finger' scroll method - but thats really not fun in a small drop down list. I just abandoned the ipad and picked up the laptop, and then gave up and went on auto trader.
I should add I was actually buying a car at the time and couldn't find anything on ph - had to buy an auto trader car in the end as I was in a rush (fortunately I was after something common - a cheap mini mk 1 facelift cooper s) - but I'll never know if there wasn't. better car on ph.....of course not your problem that I was in a rush to buy, but it was frustrating as a genuine buyer who was desparate to search the ph ads. ph should have been one of the best places to find a good cooper s.

Can I be possibly the first to say (I've not read all the threads) to say that I liked the new Classifieds?
Basic model search was no harder, and the options made it simple enough to limit parameters. Simple example, Jag XK, but wanted to see just the convertibles. Much easier to do with the new classifieds.
While it was more fussy, and the simplicity of the old one has its benefits, if I'm being honest I think most of the criticism has just been the normal reactionary response to change.
I'll continue to use them whatever the final result.

I also liked the new site. I'm obsessed with e46 m3s but I want a manual one, so the new site allowed me to 1. easily drill down on that particular model using the old method (not sure if anyone ever mentioned the old method was just a downward scroll away...), then I could 2. further narrow down the search using the new method: so a hybrid of both the old and new. This worked really well for me, so when it comes back I will welcome it.
It was slow, painful and none of the filters worked. I am sooooo glad that the old classifieds is back and long may it remain as the new one looks too like autotrader which is hideous to use.

That's fine when it worked. I couldn't even click on a model of car last week in the old list view (cursor went to a vertical line) and there were ie8 and different browser problem. So whilst it might have worked in your browser it might not have in mine. When I did get it working I wanted to sort by price and as soon as I clicked the drop down box it did not apply the setting.
So it needs proper QA testing, PHeads team should put up a demo version on a different site and let us login and test it on an offline database and have us all add feedback as regular users. I would be more than happy to beta test the new system if it meant improving things.

It could just be the new site and data base at phheads/newsite with all the current adds migrating across, so we can check we can still search and browse. A few people could try adding new ads.For some reason it might be more difficult than it sounds
