Hi All, I am new to this site and started a thread about 250cc Twin Superkarts and talked to FWDRacer who mentioned Minis, and I happen to have in my garage a 2.5 ltr ( I think) Cosworth motor in a clubman, K Reg ! It was a project of a mate of mine started in 1979 ish who was inspired after a ride in my mini whuch had a 1430 Howley Racing motor in it, I think it had a 643 cam and deffo a twin choke 45 webber, anyway, my pal decided to build a better one !! it took about25 years, he bought a brand new shell had it sprayed and baked then began the project, he made a casting to fit the crossflow motor and then spent year after year trying different carbs, ignitions etc etc until he had something special, it is finished but requires a different starter motor as the one on it is not reliable enough, it has been on the road for about 150 miles, still has the Dunlop SP Supers with the dimples on !!, if any one wants more info I will call to see my pal and ask. He used to work as an engineer and had all the facilities and knowledge and time to create it. Been trying to upload some pics but can't seem to succeed !! any tips ?

fk me that's not 'just' a Cosworth, that's a BDA Mini...... cloud9

Re-title your thread: BDA Mini and see them come running, you've got something really special there!!

very nice, thats something all mini fans of a certain age wanted!

you can get hi-torque geared motors for stuff like this fairly cheap now a days which would solve your starting problem

Actually the RS200 had the BDT which was a highly developed version of the BDA with a turbo strapped to it. The engines from the RS1600 and 1800S are clearly a bit closer in relation to the one in the mini but they are all related.

Hello All. merry x mas etc etc. I am looking after this for a mate at the moment until he gets rid of his Mrs and has the new garage built ! I will be seeing him soon so will get more info about this project etc, I think it is an alloy block !! What starter motor should I look for and from where, any advice would be appreciated.
