Disco 3 - Rodent Attack!
Discussion
Hello,
We just took our Disco 3 TDV6 (57 reg, 36K) in for a service (it is a farm vehicle)... the parking brake was broken, we had been waiting for this to happen as it is a very common occurrence...
One thing we did not expect however, was to be told the fuel tank is leaking due to rodent attack. A quick search on the internet shows that this is very common. Laughing about it with friends I have discovered another two local Discos that have been taken off the road due to failed fuel tanks due to rodent attacks as well!
Anyone else come across this? Quite remarkable!
We dearly love our LRs and this is the 5th on the farm but it is getting to the stage where everytime they go to the dealer it is another £1K.

I have a FL1 which we use for dogs and logs, last winter a deer mouse ate every inch of foam sound proofing off the bulkhead, luckily he didn't touch anything else. He traveled around in the car for well over 1000 miles before I managed to trap him. There is now a mouse trap permanently attached to the brake master cylinder. I do have to remember to warn the garage when it goes in for service!
Just found your post as my Disco 3 has today gone in for a service and I received the same news about rodent damage to the petrol tank.
I am amazed and even more so to learn this isn't an isolated incident!
Land Rover also don't have a replacement petrol tank and it has to be ordered for manufacture.
It would be useful if you could let me know if you have found out if there is any precautionary measures that can be used to stop it happening again , how long the replacement tank can take to arrive and whether Land Rover accept any responsibility as it seems weird that Disco 3s seem so prone to this!!!!
