Random thread inspired by an observation elsewhere.

I'm sure as PHers we like to buy and perhaps modify our cars with nicer alloys, perhaps keeping the originals for when we sell on. Or we've got a pair for winter and a pair for summer etc. So... how many wheels have you got in your shed or garage?

I'm a mere amateur with two originals for my bike after upgrading to lightweight OZs, and a set of winters for one of the main fleet. So a grand total of 6. Oh and 4 good tyres which I ripped off the steels to put winters on.

Go!

As of a couple of months ago i had 21 wheels and tyres in my ownership (that includes ones that are on the cars and bikes). Not bad at 19 I'd say.

Actually no, scrap that, 25 wheels (4 without tyres).

I had two cars each with 4 wheels on (supprisingly!) and two bikes. The other 13 where spare.

Ahhhh a few...... I probably need to have less

With tyres

1 set in the shed
1 set supporting a mini shell in the garage
2 sets on the racking (track tyres)
2 sets in the loft

Without tyres

2 sets on the racking
3 sets in the loft

so that's 48 wheels without counting the ones on cars (*which obviously aren't surplus)

Oh and a complete set of 4 space savers for a LC (for storage use)

None

It is about one of the only easy things I have never changed on a car. Always been happy with the alloys or wheels on my cars. I very nearly bought a set of white alloys for my MX5, which is currently sitting on a set of steelies - but is it worth spending nigh on £500 on a car only worth about £1200?

I do have about five stereos sat in my garage (including original Alfa 156, toyota MR2 mk1, Mazda Eunos, vx220 and Vauxhall Corsa).

I think I have four sets of wheels that aren't currently on cars - the Octavia's original wheels which have been replaced by cheap alloys with winter tyres on them for the next few months; the MG's original steel wheels, which the previous owner replaced with period styles alloys; and two sets of MG Midget wheels which I've never got around to getting rid of from when my Lodger used to race a Midget.

I've never actually changed the wheels on a car I've owned except for winter tyres, but I might consider buying some smaller wheels for the Octavia for the summer as well; it's comical how much better it drives on the (16 inch) winter wheels.
