how much food for an 8 week old GSD?

any GSD owners here?
picked up 'Troy' our male puppy a week ago.
breeder was feeding him on 'WAGG'.
im gradually weaning him off WAGG onto a better quality wheat free food.
trouble is even with the feeding guide it seems he isnt getting enough, i know pupps are greedy but hes seems constantly hungry.
he weighs 5.5kg and im currently feeding him 200g which is one cup full, split 4 times a day. it seems like nothing.
any advice?

Can't begin to describe how rubbish Wagg is and it is disappointing that any good breeder would use it unless they're being cheapskates.
What food are you weaning onto. He is probably playing catch up.
How often has he been wormed (should be three times by now)
Has he had a vet ck they can let you know his overall condition and whether he needs more food. In the mean time increase his food by 20g (so 220g) and see if that helps. The guide is just that and can be moderately altered to suit individual needs.

im changing him to a local companys food, pretty much like james wellbeloved. salmon and potato no wheat.
24% fresh salmon content, much better that the wagg crap.
yep hes been wormed, just had another tablet with his first vaccinations vet checked him over and he seems healthy.
he seems to like eating his own turd, which i an only assume is the waggs lack of nutrients?
Possibly though it's a very common puppy behaviour opt grow out of it.
Good he's been wormed as should but out one reason for his hunger.
Give the new food a chance but poss give slightly more than the guide suggests as I mentioned. Inc slowly and weigh him weekly, you'll soon know if he is just being greedy or if he genuinely needs more :-)

Unfortunatly just a bad puppy habit 
that you should try and catch him straight after by getting his attention with a treat or lots of praise for him being good and doing it where he should!OP, this is where I get confused. Is all this worry really necessary?

I've just got a new pup (Cocker) and it will be treated exactly the same as many others. It has been wormed twice by the breeders and that's it. It will be fed ad lib Beta Puppy for the next few months and if it turns out like any of the others it will be fine.
It's just the way I've always done it with absolutely no problems.
I hasten to add I have no experience of leisure/show dogs. But are they really that different?
I know some breeds are prone to bloat and growth problems.(Thankyou KC
) But all these feeding problems are they real or perceived?

GSD's can get dietary issues causing poor weight gain due to not being able to absorb food properly thus seem hungry all the time, so you want to see a Shepherd pup gain weight sensibly without having to feed a huge amount of food and passing normal stools (no info re: this pup on what he's passing). I'm sure once the pup is onto it's new diet fully it will sort itself out.

No worries here, I just put his breed as a little more info for the thread. That is all. He's not suffering from anything untoward, I just wanted to know approx how much to feed him and put him on a better quality food Is there a specific problem with GSDS?
