Replacement of faulty car

I am currently in the throws is trying to have my car replaced after a catalogue of problems. However, if this does happen, am I duty bound to have an exact same spec replacement, or can I reasonably negotiate a different spec or alternative model altogether?

Any thoughts out there?

Is this a brand new car? If it is stop worring, you won't get it replaced.

The dealer is already preparing the figures so it is him that has tabled the suggestion.Would anyone care to provide a helpful response?

I would have thought you would be able to negotiate the spec. if they need to do a factory order for the replacement. However, if an equivalent to the original is available from stock or in the network then you may be struggling

Thanks mate, that's kinda what I'm thinking. Though I think it's pretty unlikely they will have stock, as my spec was quite rare I think. Won't know more until the new year, but fingers crossed all goes to plan.

Maybe this would be more helpful, talk to the dealer!

What can anyone say on here that will help you? If the dealer is "preparing figures"(whatever that means) then only they will know. The manufacturer will be invloved anyway as most do what is called buy backs. What make is it?

I would imagine that what's actually happening is that the dealer is taking your car back and then supplying you with another car.

If he has the exact same car and spec in stock then he could supply you with that.
If he has to order from the factory I imagine that he could either order the exact same spec - or if he's being nice allow you to alter the spec - at your cost.

Opinions are irrelevant. It's what YOUR contact is prepared to do. Not what someone 100 miles away from you got. I tend to suggest talking to your dealer and asking them, as no one here will be able to mind read.

As long as you are being 'reasonable' then I'd say yes. I've been down this route myself and it is all about being sensible and fair (albeit in the end I opted for the full purchase value to be refunded rather than taking an alternative vehicle despite being offered any car from their entire range).

Opinions are not irrelevant, many people have experience or knowledge of situations which can be helpful to others, is this not one of the main reasons for having a forum in the first place? Of course I will speak with my contact, I was just intrigued as to other peoples views.

The dealer / manufacturer would put you back to the same spec as you have - if you want something different you will be asked for the extra cash...
