Why is it that most young ladies want to drive right up my backside?
My step daughter who si 19 is exactly the same, drives a couple of feet behind the car in front.
Her mother who is an ADI instructor taught her how to drive.
Her mum says she did not teach her to drive like that.
A little while ago in the rain she went into the back of another car. I tried to explain to her that it was her fault for driving too close, but she professed that the woman braked for no reason. I said you should you always be able to stop within the distance from the car in front.
She is adamant that the woman in fornt was at fault!
If see reversed into you then yes she is at fault, otherwise you are driving too close or not looking where you are going.
Irritating behaviour. Just makes me leave a larger gap to the car in front to allow room for them to stop and also the idiot behind me to stop as well.

I seem to be seeing this daily in the recent slippery conditions...Lost count the amount of times I had a woman RIGHT on my rear end in a little shopping car (Mk2/mk3 Micra in particular) following WAAAAAAAAAAAY too closely. Its just asking for trouble following that close, any opportunity I get to give myself some distance between them I welcome with open arms & put my foot down!

I find that quite a common young female trait is abuse of the mobile phone... Looking in my RVM to see that the shopping car behind me is a little close and then see them looking downwards into their lap. Generally turning round and deploying the Paddingtons does the trick.

It really is always someone else fault - where there's blame there is a claim! An old friend of ours drove into some blokes car in the petrol station while he was parked up then got out and shouted at him for being parked in her way. Luckily there was a sane woman in the vicinity who walked over and told her that she saw the incident and that he was rightfully parked, funnily enough she wouldn't accept responsibility when a bloke told her she was in the wrong.
There was a thread on here some time ago about motorists in front driving with dipped lights, one guy pipes up (on account that he cant see far enough ahead) "what if he hits something, I'll go straight into the back of him"...... genius. Yes, that's a risk so drop back.
When my last car was written off it was by a guy who slammed into it for not paying attention, cue the inevitable shirking of responsibility "I didn't see you indicate" etc with the remainder of my still flashing indicator hanging out of the rear wing. God bless him.
People wont leave enough space to think and brake. It's odd that the ones who leave the least amount of thinking space are the ones who seem to struggle most with the concept of thinking.
