2012 Renaultsport dates and general newbie advice please :)

I am not sure about the rookie days. We don't do them but it depends what type of cats are there on the day. We have had mixtures of very quick cars and slower ones and the concern for the slower drivers/novices is they will seem to spend more time looking in their mirrors than looking forwards. I am sure the Renault days do have quick cars but am guessing the large majority will not lap as quick as a Westfield or caterham ( obviously Clio cup racers will)
Try a normal day take some instruction and you will be fine I am sure.
As for your car, make sure levels are topped up and there is plenty of material on the pads and discs. It is the brakes that take a hammering so suggest 15 mins on track at a rime then let everything cool down. If they do deteriorate badly, for the next trackday, change the fluid to something like motul 600 or similar. Just check it is compatible with your car first.

MSV novice session is a good idea, I did one and it really helps to get a feel of the track without faster drivers mobbing you all the time. If you have a 133 Cup I may be wrong here but is it not fitted with Brembo brakes ? If so, they come into their own on track, no fade, they really work well. Your car is perfectly ok for a track day. Renaultsport Forum should have the dates up soon.

Renaultsport track days are typically very well organised, not over-crowded and well disciplined.
I wouldn't be too worried about attending your first track day in the 133. Plenty of other attendees will be in the same situation. Having driven one of Renault's own 133 Cups around Oulton Park on a Renaultsport day last year it was predictable, fun and surprisingly capable. The Twingo's brakes are sourced from the Megane II and so more than up to the job - you shouldn't experience any fade.
I'd recommend taking some tuition during the day (usually £10 a stint) and following usual best practice about general car preparation, tyre pressures, warm down laps, etc. Also worth subscribing to the Renaultsport forum (http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/community/forum/Forum_forum/Default.aspx) for further details of the track days, dates and general advice.

Unfortunately no Brembos! The brakes are taken from the Megane, they are pretty good considering it weighs much much less than the previous gen megane. Thanks for the info, I'll head on over to the RS forum.simonlong said:

Yeah I love my Cup, not amazingly fast in a straight line, but as you say, predictable, fairly capable and above all it's brilliant fun.

Me too - always make sure to get along to the RS days, well organised + great fun. Hopefully going to manage Spa this year too.Oh, and yes Twingo will be fine, plenty of them there usually and theyre very, very friendly the RS days.
I keep an eye on meganesport for the dates, i'm sure theyll be posted on most renault owners forum once known, always plenty of time to book up.
