Guys, when applying my brakes, I get what could be a rubbing sound (maybe metallic, almost sounds a bit like rushing air)coming from my rear wheels. Is this a sign of wheel bearings going bad?

The other thing that occurred to me is my brake servo, but maybe I'm way off base with that.

Any thoughts?

Brake shoes would be my first port of call.

Agree with brake shoes, could also be one of the shoe springs, slave cylinders etc. come adrift. When you jack it up to look feel if the wheel barings have any play or feel gritty when you turn the wheel.

REAR WHEEL BEARING FAILURE !!!
If driving through corners fairly sharpish, can be quite alarming to feel arse end 'moving about' whilst cornering.
This is due to a touch of 'rear wheel steering' as bearing fails to do it's supporting role.
As has been posted previously, if on sticky tyres, go for an uprated hub assembly, as originals so old now, been re-built many times, used in one direction of rotation, then the other. With Quaife you get a r/h & a l/h.

Yeah, check shoes first. Slacken off the brak adjuster first, otherwise the drums may refuse to come off. (square drive 'bolt' at bottom of drum)
If they've been there for a while they may be stuck on the hubs anyway, which takes a bit of time and patience to sort out.

Thanks all. Sounds like the consensus is rear brakes (shoes) most probably.

Far better that, than rear wheel bearings...

Twice last week I had customers with bonded on brake shoes have the materials part company with the backing..I no longer sell purely bonded on materials.

Rear bearings go noisy in and out of roundabouts as you lean on the wheel
