A simple question to get a feel for the majority opinion on PH. I have a feeling I already know the result...

Simple question, with a fairly simple answer - most BBC content production staff are liberal, educated, and believe in the concept of social justice.

I don't believe in the idea that there is any sort of policy to appear left-wing, just that nearly everyone working there is a yoghurt-weaving hippy.

Left wing bias certainly, from their output, the comments from several high profile bbc staff and also from conversations I had with bbc employees (from HR/Legal types to production and a tiny bit of 'talent').

Inside the beeb there is little understanding that their output is biased because there is a high % of 'Guardianistas' so any truely centrist view is seen as right wing and left wing is seen as normal.

If you read the memoirs of significant authoritative news presenting/current affairs figures after/close to their retirement - you'd realise just how much pressure they come under to NOT be neutral - with an unspoken (sometimes direct) threat of the sack/loss of status.

I'm not sure it is worth a vote. If anyone says 'no' then all that means is that they are mental.

The BBC is publically, clearly and opening left wing. It is not even open to debate, it is an elementary statement of fact.

Everyone knows its agenda and it is clear for all but the thickest people to be aware of and counteract. And the really thick people watch the other channels which have fewer complicated words.

The main thing is that it doesn't stop them producing the best range of TV shows on normal TV you just have to swerve the news and political bks.

The more relevent vote/discussion is whether this bias should be permitted, or whether it could ever be stopped and most importantly, does it actually matter? People tend to chose their access channels to news etc via their political or educational leanings and it is the responsibility of parents to educate their children as to how the media and the various biases work and how to spot and understand them and rationise any information they are told. If parents fail or refuse to do this it is their responsibility, not the State's.

I guess you could retitle the thread "Do you have an inherent right wing bias?" biggrin

Result would be identical.

Nope. Nothing to agree with. It is not a question, but a statement of fact. The same as someone claiming that water isn't wet. Mental, as in, mental. Could be thick?

The BBC can never be anything but on the left. It's the very nature of the beast.

Personally, I don't see why this is any issue or why it should upset anyone. Other than mental people. Unimportant things always seem to distress mental people. Things that aren't how they want it also distress mental people.

Not so, since there are folk of a left wing persuasion who recognise a BBC bias to the left. Not least several of its employees smile
