I have had the same...saxo boys giving the revs at the lights...its more a compliment than anything...think sports cars just bring the racer side out of people!

I find that on motorways, it's nearly always an Audi A4 2.0 TDI up my tailpipes trying to race. I used to pull off and leave them, now I just pull over and give them a smile.

I have no problem with that but then don't treat other cars as competitors in the race, but if they do want to race i let them win smile

Get that all the time on my Triumph Street Triple yet when I'm on a Bonneville they all leave me alone.

Was at the top of Park Lane in my 987 Boxster, a few years back, when a Saxo full of lads started giving it the revs. I tore off like the old dispatch rider that I was and drove it like I stole it. They followed and gave me the thumbs up and cheered when we got caught in traffic at Hyde Park Corner.

Childish I know biggrin

some people start to act like tits around the car when we take it out. As mentioned above the boy racers being the main problem. Usually they tailgate us, or if on the motorway go out of their way to re overtake us. We either let them pass, or if safe, give it some welly, sometimes thats all they want biggrin

How they drive is their problem. How you respond is your problem. Ignore.

I smile at them at the lights. They goad me on. I blip the engine hard. We look straight ahead, eyes steeling and grip tightening. The lights change and they disappear in a fog of tyre smoke and crunched gear changes.

I pootle off and coast to a standstill next to them at the next set of lights.

Happened ages ago when I had my first Boxster. It was typically middle aged men in family barges who tried to prove don't know what. Never had an issue in the 997S let alone my current GT3

I try not to raise to the bait in the porker... Although I have on occasion been 'revved' at by chavs when I'm turning left. I join in with the rev and edge and then giggle as they tear off like twunts as I calmly turn left and go about my day.

My latest bit of fun however is putting the discovery in 'sand' at the lights and gunning it... Now that's childish but amazing fun!

Look at it from the Corsa drivers viewpoint... Surely we all had a play when we were 18 or 19? I remember goading anything even remotely sporty at the lights when driving my old beetle - blipping the throttle and looking across for a reaction or a smile. If they revved or gunned it away faster than me it made my day.

It's obvious when a twunt wants to take things too far in which case I'll just let them pass, but there's no harm in a little harmless fun to share the joy of Porsche ownership.

You only need to have some restraint. Not worth it at IMHO & I don't bother at all. Saying that, at Houx at this years Le Mans, I did give it the berries and watch the faces of the plums who stand in the road with their camera phones as you rocket towards them hehe

You also have to be aware there are actually some seriously quick Q cars out there and turbo'd C20LET's or 20XE's in Nova's/Corsa's, or Honda type R motors in Saxo's as well as the Z cars Saxo's and Mini's and the like are hot snot off the lights, with 800kg and 300+ bhp! Might be a tad embarassing.

On a track day, well everything's sport there isn't it?

Oh, just because a TDi whatever company box comes up quickly behind doesn't mean the driver wants a race, they're probably just trying to make progress getting from one end of the country to the other. Just pull out of the "overtaking lane" and let them be on their way.

It's like the race mode if there was one, it sharpens the response up and delivers everything really quickly- apparently when you drive in sand you need instant power to stop you bogging down.. It's amazing how quick it hustles nearly 3 tons off the line
