My colleague Agent Orange reports the following:

A604, Suffolk, today. Blue traffic police car in opposite lane with small camera mounted underneath rear-view mirror.

The camera was noticeably pointing at the line of oncoming traffic. It can only be filming everyone going past. We assume that the occupants play back the tape later and nobble anyone who's using a mobile phone.

True or false?

Automatic Number Plate Recognition - for Tax & Insurance dodgers + any car reportedly used in any crime...
A much better use of public money than targeting speeding motorists....

Doubt it's anything special; from your brief description it's probably the camera many TrafPol cars have fitted - Streaky

Sure. But they could do that with a fixed camera on a bridge - not needing a police car and two officers driving about.
