There's a Cat C (although effectively undamaged) Lancia Thema 8.32 on eBay;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lancia-Thema-8-32-Blue-M...

I keep thinking that it'll make a glorious noise. It's pretty much the perfect engine donor for a fun project (not that I really have the time). Ferrari engined Mk1 MR2 is what keeps coming to my mind, although I have no idea if it'd fit.

It's done a lot of miles. Presumably it'll be fked? Everything I've ever seen before from Douglas Valley has been comedy over priced but this seems fairly cheap, which worries me.

Got to be worth it at that kind of money just for the engine alone

Douglas Valley Motors apparently don't have the best reputation in the world so do be careful.

Quite a few rejected offers. I'm tempted to make one myself.

There must be more to that story. Anyone who had that minor a ding in their thema 8:32 and the insurance gave it a cat c would have bought it back off the insurance company unless they had a very good reason!

Clearly something has been repaired before the photos have been taken, as that's far too straight for a Cat C.

There's kind of a reason for that -- the Lancia Thema, Saab 9000 and one other (Fiat Croma?) were all essentially the same car.

Right, thought it would have more BHP tho.

Wikipedia suggests 202-212 which seems more like it:

It looks like a Fiat Tempra on steroids, with an Italian V8 destined to break...

in short, I'd buy it! smile

reminds me of the top gear with the "would you buy an italian supecar for 10k"

money down the drain IMHO. I now the engine sounds intriguing but with that many miles on the clock and cat c (may have included unknown engine damage) the power output is gonna be pretty poor really, whats the point,

Power per pound is obviously awful. That's not really the point though - my old Saab Aero was essentially the same car with more power, nicer seats and better build quality. Doesn't stop me kind of wanting this though. I'm going to ask them some questions to gauge their shiftiness and try and find out if there are any issues not mentioned in the ad...
