Whats the official top 20 now ? there seems to differant ones, Age thing i suppose.
The reason i ask is i wanted to see if the military wives were number 1

Does the charts really have any relevance nowadays? It used to back in the 80's and 90's to a degree, but does anyone really take any notice?

Music purchasing is very fragmented these days and its difficult to track what people are buying legally/downloaidng illegally to see what is actually flavour of the week.

back in the 80s and 90s i am sure single sold a heck of a lot more to get to 1 than they do nowadays in general so certainly mdoern charts have less of a meaning and reflection on the nations music habits (for the mainstream anyway).

There is an official Top 100, of which the Top 40 is announced on a Sunday for the weekly chart. This is announced on Radio 1 and then anyone else after.

Radio 1 now do a midweek update, as though to track progress of singles.

But the chart runs from Sunday evening to Sunday afternoon.
