The Porsche I bought four months ago but living in central London I use it for weekends away and seeing friends but its hopeless in London, heavy clutch and you never get out of second gear, plus the dreaded sped bumps where you actually get beeped from behind!

That said it is an unbelievable car, I never feel truly relaxed when driving at speed, it requires concentration to say the least, will take me a lifetime to try and master but some track work is helping.

So I had a think about what would provide good fun and, something my I could whizz around in that had a personality, like the Porsche.

A very nice chap delivered this yesterday, its a hoot, bought it on Wednesday unseen from a dealer and not disappointed!

It has a few mods which is a new one on me, sports exhaust, rolling rockers (whatever they are) and the must have for and aspiring modder on a budget, the K&N filter.

I drove it first thing this morning across central London, no traffic around and it's genius. You can't break the speed limit that easily but you feel like you are flying along, it sounds great and revs very freely! smile

The Porsche will get driven tomorrow on my traditional Christmas day dawn run and I can't wait to see the difference as haven't been able to drive it for a month.

The Mini is what I want to drive today though, turkey in the boot and a few presents to deliver. A good day beckons!

Sorry for poor pics...More to follow.

Congrats on your new toy, it looks great and can only appreciate in value.

I must ask though; Can you share some more pics of your GT3RS?

The perfect colour combo IMO.

Awesome choice! I tried to get my misses to buy a classic mini instead of the current one..

I bet it'll make you appreciate the 911 a lot more now aswell smile

A friend of mine has a 1989 998cc Mini that he restored from a knackered shed to an unreliable but fairly tidy car, I've had a few rides in it and it is, as you say, an absolute hoot. Sweet FA power, no acceleration, hardly any cornering grip, but it adds up to a corking little car. Cornering 90 degree corners WOT in 2nd gear and the car feeling like it is going to tip over is a feeling you just won't get anywhere else, and the induction noise from the carb coupled with a surprisingly noisy peashooter exhaust makes it feel like you are hurtling through a town on the Monte Carlo rally when really you are just driving home down the local high street after collecting a pizza. As a second car I can hardly think of a better choice when your other car is a fast one.

I hope yours is reliable and brings you many years of joy - unfortunately said friend's Mini seems to break down on monthly basis when something else leaks, cracks or falls off! wink

Excellent 'sweet n sour' choice. The Mini will put a bigger smile on your face than the Porsche, it will feel like a go-kart compared.cool

Very nice indeed, especially in BRG! My neighbour's son has one of these which was fully stripped, resprayed and restored from the ground up and they are fabulous cars.

More pics of the GT3RS please as well smile

Great little car, but still, for traffic would something automatic not be more convenient? Having driven one as my daily it's all auto for me now for a daily commute.

Is it just me or does the garage seem happier with the 911 inside it?

Awesome! I can imagine people trying to wrap their heads around why you're driving around in a 911 one day, and a Classic Mini the next.. hehe

Top marks!

Cracking thumbup

Roller rockers are just rockers with roller bearings on the tips, supposedly less wear/reduces friction on the valves. Depending on the cam/setup they also give more lift - more power gains to be had. Quite an expensive bit of kit!
