I assume you'd allow the same protocol if you were being arrested? The details of the officer are un-important? Or maybe beng disciplined at work? Or any number of other things where 1 person has power but isn't also required to be transparent...

The right to face your accusor perhaps?

More over IMO it's important that the Admin/moderators are up front. I've been on other forums where the license to remove posts/ban people was massively being misused. In one case to stifle a rival company. I've also seen "prizes" go to moderators who weren't open about their status or friendships with site owners/mods/admins! And that's a dodgy slope to start on!

True. But if you want to keep the posters. You need to run it openly. Too many website owner fail to realise who is the most important people to keep happy.

Just look at Evo magazine. It's their party, they can do what they like, but a lot of their core audience are leaving because they feel left out by the management.

The mods don't have to tell you who they are. If for no other reason than they are PHers them selves and enjoy using the site as much as the rest of us.
