jammed speedo

anyone know the best solution for a jammed speedo on a 1996 car? all OK for years then suddenly stoppped at 30k.

Is this easy to fix or will it require a new speedo. any ideas on cost for a new speedo?

It reads speed but both the odo and trip are jammed.

Leave it for a few miles. Mine started at 50,000 usally gets going again after 10 - 50 Miles.

Is it an LCD display ?. Mine zero'd at 32k, and then kept doing it every time I stop/started. Took it to the dealer who did some electronic surgery on it, and also put it back to the correct mileage.

Mine stopped at 50,000 miles and then started again 20 miles after when I hit a nasty bump in the road Its been fine ever since.
