My 1st Trabant 'spotted' in Hungary, Satoraljaujhely, earlier this morning.

The guy was proud of his 'Trab' as he had a model of one on his dash... smile

My aunt's father has driven Trabants for 30 years + as his sole method of transport and his commuter car between his home on an island on the North west coast of Ireland just off Donegal and Holland for the past 20 years.

+1 There's bloody loads of them in Berlin, including Trabi Safari where you see the city in a convoy of the smokey, noisy, hateful cars.

A lot more in Leipzig and Dresden. Somewhere I have a photo of an open top six wheeler stretched version, just for tourist rides. Wouldn't want to go fast in that one.

I am sure I saw one broken down on the M27 this morning (near Eastleigh airport, Southampton)

Not sure if it was a Trabamt, but certainly looked like one.....

We did a bike tour but never got round to doing that one. Maybe next time.

I was taking to a Museum Curator about a Trabant on display. He pointed out a blemish on a replacement wing they had fitted, he wasn't going to impove it, apparently it was a button (the body work is compressed cotton from cast off clothing) showed provenance.

Loved all the old Soviet era cars when I visited Budapest.

Can anyone tell me that this is? Snapped it whilst wandering around Fisherman's Bastion
