Hi

I have a problem with the passanger door on my Mk 1. The door opens ok with the window lowering to the correct point, but when the door releases is gets a second pulse and lowers further. When you close the door it only shuts the window to the mid point. I have swapped the controllers and re alinged the door to get it smoother but can't get the window to behave itself. Is there any other controllers I ahould be looking for? The window isn't that smooth in its travel even though I have given it some silicone lubricant, so I was wondering if it has soem sort of power encoder on it somewhere?

Any and all advise gratefully recieved

Thanks

Steve

There is a window encoder behind the door card that often needs a clean and dry to get things working properly. This has been covered extensively. If you try using the search function under "window encoder" I'm sure you will find plenty of info.

Thanks I'll look for the encoder. Tried the search thing first of but it either came back nothing found or just stopped working. I suppose its back to the 500 page search :-( !

It is a small pcb that measures the movement of the window, they are about £20, they are prone to water ingress and eventually give up. Best test is to buy a spare and swap them out. Usually sorts the problem. You can try drying them out with a hair dryer .

There is a small microswitch behind the silver cover on the body side of the door lock. There should be a single screw holding it in, behind that is the micro switch, this tells the window that the door is open, give the lever a bend to make sure that it is working.
