Trackday tomorrow.

I have a trackday booked tomorrow at donington and I'm not sure what tyres to use, I've got a spare set of wheels with pirelli corsas fitted and although they stick like st in the summer does anyone know what they're like in winter? Am I going to get enough heat into them or will it be like driving on ice?

Up the presures by 5 psi min its what we do with karts and it works every time on a cold day then reduce as you get into it

Ok thanks for the tip, it's supposed to be a dry day so I'll run with the corsas and up the pressure as you suggest. I just hope they heat up when driving round like a granny!

If the ambient temp is >10C and the track is completely dry, then you should be OK with the Corsas. If the track is cold and greasy then you will have Citroen 2CVs going past you! Just be a bit careful in the morning session and enjoy yourself.

Might be worth doing a couple of good warm up laps before going too mad , I might be wrong but I thought you lowered the pressures to allow the tyre to move And flex more therefore warming up quicker . Tux

Thanks guys I appreciate the comments, I think I'll stick with the eagle F1s as the temp is going to be 8C ish so prob not the best conditions for corsas. I will be taking it easy tomorrow, the cars just come back from Jetstream with a LSD fitted so looking forward to finding out what difference that makes.

Should always do warm up laps! The corsas have such stiff side walls and such large flat tread blocks that getting heat into them is a real problem in cold conditions regardless of pressure.
