The 911 quandry. It doesn't matter what my financial position is, i always seem to be putting off the 911 purchase because i can almost afford the next one.

My current dilemma is 997.1 c2s/c4s.... or hang on a bit for a 997.1 tt...

sigh. Not sure what the point of this post is really!

So you get run over by a bus tomorrow & you've never owned a 911?!!!

Don't expect to get one in heaven by the way, the arse engined hitler-mobile would never be allowed up there, buy while you can still repent!! biggrin

Wrong dilemma.

997 C2S/C4S are dropping like a stone and have a chocolate engine.

It should be 996 turbo or 997 turbo and currently it's a £15-20k difference (adding in some relativity)!

.....your dilemma should have been decided by the end of the 993 run....but if you really want to go the "kettle" route.....the 996 turbo is excellent value for money and perhaps as a total "air-head" is one car that I "might" be inclined to buy.....but if you really want a run of the mill modern 911 just do it and stop faffing around.....it doesn't make much difference you will lose a shed of money either way.

as long as everyone realises that, then that's fine! It's not as if you're buying a house...

I assume that i'm going to lose a pile of cash on even the rarest air cooled collecters item, if i drop 40-50,000 miles on it over 3 years??

Seats in the back are a requirement.

Go and test drive as many cars in your price range as possible, then buy one!
I procrastinated for years, if you keep stalling you may eventually talk yourself out of it.
Plus you'll be amazed at how much time you free up, having previously sweated for hours over the classified ads. I'm ashamed to admit I may have been a little addicted!
And it's so satisfying to finally park one in your garage.

That kind of rules out any 911 then I guess. There are seats but they're not exactly usable as such.

Depends on the age of the children, up until age 10 or so it is fine.

Anyway, just get out there and buy one.

Or the height of the driver. I'm 6' 1" and have the seat pretty much as far back as possible. I think I can just about slot an iPad in the rear leg space!

Really? I'm 5'10" and my kids fit behind me with no problem.

Therein seems to be an assumption that a persons torso and limbs are always in the same direct proportion to his/her height. smile

It's possible to be 5'11" with "stumpy" legs (I should know) biggrin
This leaves me plenty of room for rear seat passengers. However someone who is a gangly six feet tall with long legs (I believe a lanky streak of p*ss is the more oft used term) will require more legroom despite only being an inch taller, hence then only an Ipad will fit in the rear smile
