I guess the main problem is that the Jet Engine needs to be at the rear of the car, which as far as I am aware isn't possible on a locost, as it is a Lotus 7 based car, but find something Beetle based ......

helicopter engines arnt the easiest things to 'find'
but you could build a turboshaft motor from turbochargers.

just add more turbochargers to get more power! probbably need atleast 24 for real performance levels of power though

Sadly, that one didn't work out in the end. 
The engine was removed and the chassis was sold off last year; IIRC 'insurmountable technical difficulties' were encountered, according to the ad for the chassis, but it didn't go into detail on exactly what it was that they couldn't make work.
One in the back of a bmw mini. It looks like he kept the original engine upfront as well.
