I was out in a mate's Boxster yesterday to compare his 2.7 with my 2.7 :-)

Above 85mph there's a loud air horn type noise (best I can describe it really). He thinks it's perfectly normal. I nearly had an unexpected item in the baggage area. I explained that it's not flipping normal!

It...

Happens at random over 85mph
There's nothing loose that I could see at the front
Wipers on / off no difference
Hood up / down no diffence

Any ideas how I can stop Sussex's own version of Foghorn Leghorn?

Thanks

It sounds like the battery cover or the surrounding plastic cover up near the windscreen under the bonnet might be loose and makes the sound you are describing as it resonates at speed. Happened on Mrs. James-T's original 986 and a few minutes re-attaching it properly saved a trip to the dealer smile

Also could be the windscreen de-bonding away from the car. Had exactly these symptoms on my 996 and needed the screen re-fitting.

Excellent - thank you so much.

We tried it without the battery cover and the problem persists however there is indeed a crack in the corner of the screen from one corner to the other so I think after the new screen it'll be right.

Thanks again!
