Test drive this Friday
Discussion
So I'm testing a 991 - S with PDK, Sports Chrono and PSE.
As I've never driven a PDK car before is there anything I should "do" on the test drive to get a good feel for it, or is it just case of drive as normal (obviously without any left foot work or gearstick activity
)
The 911 have never really been my thing but, having had 2 great ownership experiences with a Boxster and a Boxster S in the past, I have to admit I'm rather excited.

Yes
Please write up a nice report for us. Thanks. In fact can everyone who's lucky enough to try one do the same, please? Would be great to have some more objective views, like Manks' thread.
PDK? Just leave it in Sport (not Sport Plus), drive it like an automatic and concentrate on the chassis, suspension, handling, steering etc.
When the salesman puts it in Sport Plus to impress you with the "animal" side of the PDK's character, don't equate this with the 991. The 997 PDK does that too. And bloody good it is.
Have fun.

Let the engine warm and then hit the sport button. If no traffic and one appropriate road, floor it from 30.
Also worth sticking it in sports plus mode, manual mode and have a play in 1st and 2nd gear through the buttons (or paddles) at sub 40mph, just to see what kind of noises you get in more day to day situations.

Turn on the PSE (if there's still a separate button for it), put it in sport mode and use it like that whenever you find yourself either in traffic or on dual carriageway.
)If you have PASM, put it back in "normal" mode after selecting sport, at least for most of the drive.
When you've got some open road and curves to play with put it in Sport Plus and MANUAL mode (Sport Plus in auto = disaster on the road).
Change gears yourself with the throttle planted and enjoy the exhaust snorts, but remember that Sport Plus also lets the tail wag alot more than either sport or "normal" modes.
Find an empty road and experience launch control as well - it has to be done, even if only once!

Now that's a good read
When you press the button (on centre console) it activates an external speaker - mounted between the tailpipes.
