Digital photo frame issues

Not mine, but had this from a customer and can't think of an answer:

'I have copied from the original disc you supplied, no problems. I then copied to an sd card I have to put in a digital photo frame, again no problems. Every time the display gets to BWC1890, the display freezes. I deleted that particular image but the problem re-occurs with several images thereafter. I have reformatted the card, tried 2 different ones, but always with the same result. I also tried Nikon Picture Project software to resize and 'export jpg' to the card but that software 'hangs' at the same point as the frame, leading me to the conclusion that the issue lies with the actual photo files, although these display perfectly well with other software?? It has become very frustrating that I cannot get them to display on the photo frame (which according to it's manual, should be quite capable) so in desperation I'm hoping you might have a suggestion?'

But for the 'according to it's manual' comment I would be wondering about memory or folder size limits in the device. That or how the SD card is formatted. As starting points.

It would be interesting to use the card (or a different one) loaded only with the files from the problem file onwardss to see what happens. Also to work out the total size of all the files that display successfully and compare that with known technology boundaries.

I've never used a photo frame though - there may be some specific aspects of how they work that would provide a clue that a regualr user of such a device would know about.

Get them to put the original 'problem' image back then delete a few from the very beginning of the card and try that. That should prove if it's a problem with the BWC1890 image (or a hidden file) or alternatively if it gets a bit further perhaps there is a limit on the number of images which can be displayed ? (Somebody I found on Google seemed to have hit a 500 image limit ?)

The frame is a Hannspree SD7021.
