Hi All

Driving along happily in my immaculate c4s this afternoon when there was a judder changing from 2nd to 3rd and the clutch weight disappeared. It now feels artificial and very light with a minor vibration through the pedal at half travel. Also, the spring up seems to have lost its vigour and I actually thought the pedal had stayed on the floor at one point.

Changes gear without drama though, just feels totally different. It was heavy before so the change is massive.

Is my clutch gone? No slipping or kangarooing from start up, just a pedal feel change.

What's the verdict chaps?

On a side, if the consensus is new clutch, should I go OEM or Sachs? Heard the Sachs was a little easier day to day and she gets used in all weathers.

Cheers

Sachs is the OEM (i.e. They make them for Porsche). I wonder if what you've experienced could be failure of the dual mass flywheel?

Does not sound like the clutch plate - tends to slip when its on the way out - never had a flywheel fail but they are not always replaced with the clutch so could be old - yours has a lot of miles if I remember from when it was for sale - could be 3rd clutch but original flywheel?
Be interested to hear more....and good luck.........sachs clutch should be fine from an indie around 600 quid clutch or 1000 with flywheel.

Yup it has 99k miles now but is seriously well looked after. I've spent around 5k so far this year!!

It's going down to George Morrison's later today - he reckons it's the clutch but we'll see. Changes gear fine, just super light. Apparently the hydraulic action is over compensating and he reckons the plate will have been damaged.

Will find out today/tomorrow.

It was supposed to go yesterday but part of their roof blew off in Hurricane Bawbag 2 and landed on a 911, 924 and a 600CL v12!! Big drama!
