Anyone know this Griff ?
Discussion
I've been reading the forums for sometime but this is my first post so "Hi",
Does anyone know more about this car in the classifieds?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3206079.htm
Obviously its been crunched, but I'd like to get one I can save and keep. I know there are posts on here about the dealer. So I'm asking if anyone knows more about its history and if its as the advert describes before I decide to go North for a look.
Thanks

unless you have the skills and resources to carry out the work yourself you may be better off buying a roadworthy example.
have a chat with a few bodyshops, fibreon, plasticman, sportmotive, raceproved ect and get an idea of cost to repair the visible damage, and leave some cash aside for the bits that cant be seen, or you won`t know about until you start work.

if the car was worth say 13k and its only £1100 upto paint stage plus paint i cant see how it could have been written off unless there is far more damage beneath. The tyre in the photo is flat which means the wheel was hit hard - there will possibly be wishbone, geometry, supsension, exhaust possibly even chassis etc damage. it is way over priced and very risky -buy a known car and have a good experience.
119 months and now 2 posts. I have done a lot of 'lurking'...
I agree its overpriced and if it was only the visible body damage then why write it off ? It doesn't add up.
I was hoping someone on here might know the full extent of the damage. My plan would be to do the work myself except the paint, the fibreglass looks pretty straight forward to fix/replace. It would be a shame to see it get broken for parts.
Thanks for your thoughts and I promise not to leave it 10 years before my next post.

Some insurance companies are all to quick to write off TVRs as they are an unknown quantity and therefore a risk when it comes to agreeing to fund repairs. We have had a number of members on here battle with insurance companies not to write off their cars.
It would be nice to see the Griff fixed up and put back on the road, but have a good look at it before making an offer. Is it were a simple fix no doubt someone would have already bought it by now.
Good luck.

also with some body shops giving ludicrous quotes to fix cars (I remind you of the Griff that got rear ended earlier this year or was it last
) insurance companies will write these cars off.
So with my figuring on the above, there maybe some bargins lurking in scrap yards for the kind of person to DIY, or spend time to find competent more cost friendly bodyshops.

I suppose the real question is, would you do it again knowing what you know now and be able to make it commercially viable at similar costs ?
