4.2 AJP Valve Clearance

Hi, just been measuring up the clearances and have a couple of quick questions before I order up some shims tomorrow.

Workshop manual states 8 thou inlet and 10 thou exhaust. I seem to remember someone mentioning running an additional 2 thou. What is standard practice here? Is there any difference between 4.5 and 4.2?

Interestingly my exhausts are between 14 thou and 11 thou and average 12.7 thou.

The inlets are between 6 thou and 8.3 thou.

The workshop manual does not mention any tolerences. Realistically what should I be aiming for here?

most people including myself have set the exhausts to 12 thou and the inlet to 10 thou.

as it gives the engine better running manors at lower rpm. or so ive been told.

also it makes no odds if its a 4.2 or 4.5
