Oh yeah! I got into them a couple of years ago. The first album is a great loud wall of sound rock record. The second was a let down, but then they upped their game with 'The Octopus', moving in a more prog rock direction but in epic fashion.

I hear there is another album on the way next year too!

No end of great bands looking for a deal, problem is the Companies will only sign those that are virtually 100% going to provide profits into the Company (commercial tripe). We need lots more risk taking and more of the Late Great John Peel's to get the best bands out there imho.

And that's why Cowell loves the X-Factor. The single is guaranteed to make a profit on the record deal as a whole, so it doesn't matter how st they are after that.

Bands do not need deals any more - I know mates who are in bands and none of them are even actively looking any more. It's easier for them to sell direct on iTunes/whatever. If they ever got massive enough for a deal they'd probably take it, but for anybody below that level DIY is easier and better value.

I've seen them a couple of times, was too lazy to travel to the tour in December. They're a great band but 75% of the music I listen to lots of people haven't heard of.

Nothing groundbreaking, but I just really love their sound.

Quite like Amplifier but there is a lot of filler.

Oceansize were half way to being a really great band but they never really worked out what role the vocals took in the band. Their songs had few decent tunes, Vennart was a crap singer and you couldn't understand a word he was singing. Always thought they should have hired a proper singer.

Blinding live band though.

I don't see the Amplifer and Oceansize comparisons - is it just because they were mates or something like that? Oceansize are still pretty much my favourite band, much more creative/inventive than Amplifier who are more balls out straightforward rock with a spacey theme! I like the Oceansize vocals - if you just consider it another instrument, and certainly prefer it to say a heavier vocal.
