Very strange... today my battery light decided to start glowing but whereas on past cars of mine it would go out with a bit of revving, the opposite happened. At idle it went out and with a bit of welly it came on!
Twenty minutes later, all back to normal. Bad earth? Alternator? Damp? What d'you think?

I think older cars used to glow when idling as they were dynamo's rather than alternators

battery light usually means the alernator is playing up

check the voltage across the battery at idle

My main cable broke off the alternator with no warning light. Didn't know untill the car died in rush hour traffic!! Thank God for the AA
