I believe my Taimar has a Salisbury (Jaguar) 4HU final drive assy. It's not noisy but is very "clonky"

Read somewhere that with the pinion and one output locked there should be no more thank 3/4" movement on the other output at 6" radius (edge of wheel near enough), I've got over an inch.

I'll have a go at most things (rear wheel bearings no problem!) but diffs I ain't too sure on so any recommendations for somewhere, preferably in the Birmingham area, to do a good job at a fair price?

A quick "google" has thrown up these 3......

Before you re-build anything check that all your mounting bolts are tight. They are known to occasionally rattle loose. then check the rest of the mountings.

Appreciate the advice but problem is definately in the diff, all mountings and uj's ok, had it out few months back (it's 'kin heavy) when I gave the chassis a lick of paint.

I would personally have it built here...

The 4HU needs a few special bits and pieces to make it all work properly and a few special tools to take it to bits and re-build it.

Thanks Mike,
spoke to Tim there who did seem to be on the ball (compared to others I'd phoned recently). I'll check them out on Friday since I'll be up that way then.

Well, I took the plunge and got the finished article back yesterday

It has new seals and bearings and has been re-shimmed - took them about a week including ordering and receiving all the bits required.
It'll be a while until I'm ready to test it in anger but so far so good . . .

Can I ask how much they charged? Mine needs the front seal replacing and it may be worth having the same done as you. many thanks in anticipation.

Not the cheapest quote I had but I liked the way Tim talked!
