Evening fellow Tivvers, hope all had an enjoyable Christmas.

I have got myself a video camera for the Griff. The Drift Stealth HD170 on special offer at Amazon for £123 at the moment. 170 Degree wide angle, 60fps, 1080p, LCD screen and remote control. At that price thought it would be rude not to.

My question for those who have camera is how have you chosen to mount them in the car? I have used the headband to attach to the head rest but it is not particularly stable. I was thinking about using one of these mounts to attach to the headrest pole and present the camera between the two seats:

This would be nice and easy if I had a roll bar fitted.

I use a small suction mount which is good for on the windscreen or if you are brave enough the body work. The suction is very strong and it is small and adjustable to all angles, heres a link to the one I have http://www.maplin.co.uk/mini-camera-suction-mount-...

Here is a clip I took using the iPhone on the windscreen (it was a dark day) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PglfnkVujh8&fea...

The iPhone mounting section was not too stable, but what do you expect for £3.50p smile

I have done a few similar videos myself using my iPhone 4 and I must say considering it is a phone I have been very impressed with the 720p footage and the mic quality. The only thing I am not so keen on is the angle looking through the windscreen, I much prefer the view you get from behind the seats with a wide angle camera that shows the interior of the car.

The HD 170 hopefully will allow me to capture some higher quality footage and with the option of an external mic will hopefully elimate the dreaded wind noise as well.

Now that is something that I had not thought of using the targa struts. I wonder if it would work with the roof down but still connected to the struts.

Is the one I linked to earlier the exact same one you have (Super Clamp with 120mm extension arm)?

Or do you have the 195mm variant:

I've used a standard camera tripod before. Two legs extended and wedged down either side of the transmission tunnel and the third one short and on the shelf.
Might need some additional stabilising with a bungy cord.

All i did was make an L bracket from aluminium and use the sun visor mounting bolt hole on the passenger side using a slightly longer bolt.the advantage with this set up is two fold the marshals at the gate to the ring can't see camera through the green tint at top of windscreen and the tint does not show up noticably on video but cuts out any sun glare.just remember to silicone the head of the new longer bolt as that channel can get water in it.it does not interfear with the visor operation.note that a suction mount will not be acceptible on trackdays if you do them.

That is a great idea, thanks I shall give that a go.

Hi Jes, great video.... sounds really good with the roof on.

I may give roof on a go out of interest.... knowing my luck i'll get spotted by Chimp owner.

Completely off topic but what roll bar do you have in yours?

Not to worry on the roll bar. Good recovery on that spin by the way. thumbup

I have locked the back wheels on mine a couple of times, nothing as spectacular as yours though fortunately smile
