Right. I'm fully prepared for the pisstaking answers, but right now I'm bloody freaked out. None of this is made up!

Not been feeling the best today, bit of a sore throat/general malaise so decided to have a rejuvenating bath- Working at 0800 tomorrow frown Ran said bath, which ended up being bloody hot. Dipped my feet in and couldn't stand it, so added a little cold- My mixer tap is knackered so it didn't cool it down massively.

As I got out, I felt a bit of sudden, slight confusion about the date/whether it was pre or post Christmas. Got back in to the bath, which to be fair was bloody roasting, and ended up getting out again. I'm very confused about the chain of events, but basically I seem to have blacked out somewhere in the middle. Not fall over black out, but coming to with a start... Sudden memories of bizarre dreams and nothing makes sense. Not sure if this happened in the bath, or sitting outside it.

Can overly-hot water really do this? Have I boiled myself? I can't explain exactly what's happened but it's really really odd. I now know what the date is, and roughly what's what, but I feel like I've lost quarter of an hour...

For reference, I'm a 32yo normally healthy bloke, with no known mentalisms smile

I don't think so... Bloody hope not. I was thinking a reaction to extreme heat perhaps?

Hmm, sounds likely... Really, really odd. I'm completely back to normal now but the episode has rather shaken me up, luckily I think the blackout moment happened out of water.

Baths- Danger matters!

Sometimes I fall asleep in a hot bath and wake up with a start, heart thumping and feeling very thick headed. Its almost funny because you do feel as though you've been in there hours.

I get this too, unfortunately the general heat and relaxing atmosphere tends to send me to sleep pretty quickly. I also get dizzy if I get into it too quickly rather than letting myself adjust properly first.

Overly hot bath = lowered blood pressure = you fainted.

It can happen once you've started driving MX5's wink

I've stopped driving MX5s for the time being acsherly! wink On the hunt for a nice manly E36 M3 cab at the moment...

Lowered blood pressure and a faint makes sense... Lucky it wasn't a fall to the floor faint. 14 stone dropping a face 6ft onto tiles would, I imagine, smart somewhat.

bks to that! I've retreated to bed in fear. It was a shame really to waste a lovely bath but I couldn't stay in it after that malarkey...

Transient Global Amnesia? Can create 'missing time' and confusion, I believe.

I get this from time to time with hot baths, also it sometimes triggers breathing difficulties.

Seriously, just this. When the body is at high temperature it opens up all the peripheral blood vessels (hands, feet, skin surface) to try to keep dumping as much heat as possible. You suddenly stand up, it takes 20 seconds or so to shut all those vessels down again, and there is a temporary lack of oxygenated blood going to the brain. The body's normal response to this it to make it easier to get blood to the brain by laying you flat, i.e. dropping you to the floor in a faint. Recovery should be rapid.

In a situation where the faint reflex fails to lay the body flat, (propped up in some way) the next reflex is to start having a fit, violent body movement to try to dislodge the body from its upright position and get it flat.
