Secret of Monkey Island (and 2)
Discussion
Now, I played Monkey Island years ago and loved it, so got it on the PS3 and it's rather good fun still. Managed to complete it (needed to cheat just once as I got stuck) finally.
Started playing Le Chuck's revenge, and it is soooo different. The tasks don't make logical sense (I've had to cheat half a dozen times already as I have no idea what to do).
Anyone else find the same thing?

Are you playing on normal, or super-hard mode? I could do normal, but the hard one was impossible.
Normal.I found LeChucks challenges just utterly illogical (well, so far, I now have all four map pieces so will how I get on with the next bit!!). I would never have thought of sawing off a pirate leg for example to get a woodsmith out of his room. I tried giving him all sorts of stuff etc as would be normal and there was nothing to make him leave apart from that. It just seems like some of the challenges are not "normal" types and just so illogical/off the wall. Don't get me wrong, things like removing an alligator to get into a room etc are fairly easy, using a dog to find a map piece etc again is fairly logical as he knows the smell BUT putting a leaflet in a wanted poster to get someone arrested so you can get some grog!?!?? Hell no, I'd never have come up with that either.
Whereas the normal monkey island I found was almost completely logical and you could at least have an idea what to do and how to get around something, once you'd spoken to people and looked around etc.
I can handle the dodgy graphics but the clunky interface and gameplay belong in the last century.
I still occasionally play Paradroid or Civ II for the retro kick.
If given a choice of Monkey Island or Skyrim then there's no competition whatsoever.
Maybe I'm just not a fan of that particular genre.

I thought the original Monkey Island games were on PC so you shouldn't need anything an emulator?
Yes I've completed Monkey Island and Le Chuck's revenge, both on the PS3 (I used to have both on my Amgia 500 mind!).Now I want more similar games, ideally on the PS3 but on PC if needs be..

Yeah I know what you mean, I went and played that Space Invaders the other day - don't know what all the fuss is about, Call of Duty is way better.
Seriously, that is the most absurd sentence I've ever read. It's a 20 year old game, if you never played it first time around then I'm afraid it will not be the same.
Personally I think they're some of the greatest adventure games ever made (and yes they can be pretty tough).
