RX & MX number plates

Why do I see so many porsche, especially cayennes with number plates starting with RX or MX. is that porsche UK HQ plate area?

I too wonder why, my Cayenne S 2004 came with an RX plate.

I've noticed a lot of boxsters come with "box" or (even more tragic) "bxr" plates. You'd imagine most people would negotiate a normal plate as part of a sale in case people think them desperate fools
