Electric, electric, electric!

Kyosho and tamiya are the nicest building experiences - I love Tamiya.

However you will also have to buy radio gear, battery and charger - these can add another £200 for decent stuff.

Traxxas are great for all in one box units - the slash 4x4 is an absolute monster for the price!

Depends on what you want, you say car but is that a broad description? if you have few places that are open and flat I'd suggest and off road vehicle of some kind.

If you want to build it yourself - Tamiya are a good bet.

if not Traxxas or HPI I can recommend. I have the aforementioned Slash 4x4 and it is brilliant, it soaks up a huge amount of abuse in it's stride.

I would go with electric, as imho nitro is not worth the hassle, electric is cleaner and faster in most cases.

Nitro is a lot of fun but in reality can be a hassle to keep running properly (they constantly need re-tuning to air temperature) and can be unreliable also they are very loud so this does limit where you can use them.

For a first car, I'd go electric. Have a look on (they usually have a pretty good selection)

You need to decide what use you want out of it whether it be a garden toy/racer/showqueen/on road/off road etc then look at specific models.
