I put a drunk ebay on a white BMW estate for £2050 which I completely forgot about - it seemed like a good idea at the time and the seller has just called me to ask me when I'll be collecting it!

I've got no intention of buying the car but I know the seller will have to pay the fees on ebay - how much will this roughly be and is there any way of him not having to pay the fees?

It's people like who that makes eBay a ste place to sell cars. What's your eBay ID? I'll help you sort this out...

You bid, you buy, that's the way it goes with eBay.

Now, I would suggest making an apology to the seller, and offering a goodwill gesture of £50-100 to cover his trouble and fees.

I know.. If it makes any difference I'm happy to pay the relisting fees if they are not too unreasonable

Auction or classified? Classified are non-binding.

Apart from that, I'd contact the seller with a sob story and offer to send him some beer money for wasting his time.

Listing fees vary, the final value fee will probably be about 20 quid. If you both "agree not to complete" auction transaction the FVF will be refunded.

I'd consider sending him £20 via Paypal to apologise for being a timewasting muppet would suffice.

And what if they are 'unreasonable'?

If he's incurred these fees through your muppetry then you should be happy to pay them whatever they are.

I thought cars bought via eBay auction were not binding either.

The MTFU thing to do would be admit your mistake and buy the car and if you don't want it sell it on.

You could go look at the car and hope it wasn't as described and then reject it. However if everything is as described then you'll need to MTFU again.

The pussy thing to do would be to ignore the seller and delete your account. But there are so many people who this happens to and they have the right to be pissed off and call the buyer anything they want.

Don't think so.

Certain eBay listings involve non-binding bids, such as items listed in Property and eBay Motors classified listings.

Not going to do this... I barely use my ebay account so don't care if it gets deleted but feel bad for the seller and I will do the right thing and sort him out for whatever he loses. I don't have the money to buy the car right now but if I did then I definitely would as it's a really nice car

Hopefully there is a close second chance bidder which would mean the seller could sell it to them... Otherwise they end up having to re-list the car which, IMO, always implies a bit of stigma- No matter how much you say it's due to timewasting muppets prospective buyers are never quite sure.

So, £20 via Paypal I reckon.

Yes you can mutually agree not to proceed and the sale will be cancelled.

You sound like a proper bell-end though.
