I've got a couple of these and very well they work too.

I've got an old wet battery that was in the MX-5 and then sat in my front room for 6 months without being charged. Sat it on the conditioner for a bit and it flashed the orange charging lamp while the green was on - according to the FAQ:

"This is either because of an interruption during charging, due to a loose connection or because the battery has ceased to work. It could also be because the battery is sulphated. If the lamps flash for more than 30 minutes this indicates the battery is dead and needs to be replaced."

I left it for a while (few weeks) and next time I checked it was green - hooray! Always useful to have a spare battery on the bench.

Borrowed the charger to stick on the Saab a couple of weeks ago. Got another CTek for Christmas so stuck it on the bench battery again and it's doing the flashing thing again...

So, is the battery dead or not? Seems I managed to recover it the first time. Obviously it's not going to be perfect, but worth hanging on to?

If it's been left flat for any length of time it will be sulphated and goosed.

I've had partial success in the past with Bat-Aid pills which remove some of the sulphation, but the battery has always died shortly afterwards.

I think batteries tend to lose there charge somehow if left on the floor, keep it on a bench. it all depends how long it takes to charge again. I find taking off the caps while charging helps.
